The charming city of Bayeux has retained a rich heritage, miraculously spared during the Battle of Normandy. Bayeux was marked by two conquests: William the Conqueror’s invasion of England in 1066 and the landing of the Allies in June 1944.
Famous for the Tapestry which recounts in 58 scenes the epic story of William the Conqueror, the city also boasts a beautifully preserved historical centre where the cathedral Notre-Dame watches over cobbled lanes lined with elegant mansions.
